Eloy Casagrande claims he never joined Sepultura: “Contracted musician”

Drummer left the band at the beginning of this year, before their farewell tour, to become the new member of the North American band Slipknot

Out of the band since February this year, Eloy Casagrandenew drummer for Slipknotstated that he was never part of the Grave. In a new interview, the musician stated that he has always been “self-employed, contracted” of the band, who lost the artist on the eve of his farewell tour.

End of Sepultura

In conversation with the Uol,Big house said that his going to the Slipnkot happened, firstly, because of the closure of the Grave and the desire to not stop playing drums professionally at the age of 33:

“The first factor for me wanting to play in Slipknot it was the end of Grave. I am 33 years old. I respected the decision of the Andreas [Kisser, guitarrista e lĂder da banda], but I needed to move on with my life. The invitation from Slipknot There was no way I could wait a year. It was yes or no”explains Eloy.

Sudden departure generated friction

The musician also revealed that he signed a confidentiality agreement when he decided to join the Slipknotmissing the Grave on the eve of the start of his farewell tour, which created bitterness among his former bandmates:

“From the moment I broke the news about what was happening, they didn’t talk to me anymore, and I think they asked no one from the team to come talk to me anymore. But I still have a great affection for them”said.

“If they came to talk to me today, I would say it cool, because we never had any professional, personal or friendship problems, it was always very peaceful, especially because we traveled together, spent months in tour bus and everything”added the musician.

Hired musician

Big house also clarified that, in fact, he was never a member of the Gravewhich also helped make the decision to be the new battery of the Slipknot:

“I took this attitude too, because I was never part of Sepultura, I was always an autonomous musician, I was always a musician hired by the band. So, from the moment I took this attitude, it’s because I had freedom, it’s not that I was part of Sepultura’s social contract”, explained.

Other side

Recently, Andreas Kisser talked about the sudden departure of Eloy Casagrande of Grave and defined it as a very strange situation: “I think the fact that he goes to Slipknot is normal, because of the quality of drummer he has… He can play in any band in the world, without a doubt”, he began.

“But I think the moment and the way he chose to do it was very strange. Everyone is free to choose what to do and how to do it, and bear the consequences”added Kisser.
