Sean Diddy Combs attacks ex-girlfriend on video and apologizes: ‘I have to ask God for mercy’

The 2016 recording corroborates the complaint made by Cassandra Ventura last year

Sean Diddy Combs apologized for his behavior recorded on video from March 5, 2016. The recording shows him physically attacking his then-girlfriend, Cassandra Venturaknown as Cassie, and corroborates the complaint made by her in November last year. The musician denied that his ex-partner’s allegations were true, but admitted violence contained in video and apologized on Instagram:

It’s so hard to reflect on the dark times in your life, but sometimes you have to. I was f*cked. Like, I hit rock bottom. But there’s no excuse for that. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They are disgusting. I was disgusted when I made them, I’m disgusted now. I looked for professional help. I’ve been going to therapy and rehab. I have to ask God for mercy and grace. I’m sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m really sorry.

Meredith Firetoglawyer for Venturareacted to his apology video Combs in a comment sent to Variety:

The recent statement by Combs it’s more about him than the many people he’s hurt. When Cassie and several other women spoke out, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for money. That he was only prompted to say ‘sorry’ when his denial was proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will fall for his hypocritical words.

Process

In November 2023, the singer Cassie went public to denounce her former boss for repeated occasions in which the hip hop star allegedly raped her and forced her to have sexual relations with third parties.

Combs denied the accusations and reached an agreement with Venturabut stated that the decision was not a way of admitting guilt.
