The singer responded to the over-the-top praise and took the opportunity to share her faith and gratitude on social media
Anitta was angered by a fan’s comment, who compared her to Jesus Christ, during a social media interaction in the early hours of this Sunday (2/6). After sharing a video of her performing on an American show, one admirer declared that the singer “will be more famous than Jesus Christ.” The phrase is reminiscent of a controversial speech by John Lennon about the popularity of the Beatles in 1966. But the Brazilian artist did not make the connection with pop and decided to give a moral lesson to her followers.
“My love, thank you so much for your affection, but don’t even say it as a joke, okay? Jesus Christ, the greatest spirit of light who has passed on our earth, needs to be known by everyone, forever, and it will be, by the grace of God.” The singer took the opportunity to highlight the importance of Jesus and his teachings, stressing that no one can be more famous than him.
Thanks and faith
The singer concluded her message by thanking her fans for their support, stating: “I bring joy to more and more people and I am very grateful, including, to Jesus and to God. If He wants, in the future, I will also send messages of love and peace to all. No one can be more famous than Jesus, because his teachings must be in everyone’s hearts before anything else and anyone.
Anitta follows CandomblĂ©, a religion of African origin. He recently released the video for “Aceita”, which reveals details of his spirituality and connection to this faith.
