The American magazine chooses the best albums in history and includes Brazilians; know which ones

Despite the greater representation of Brazilian and Latin names compared to other lists, the ranking still sees a predominance of North American and European musicians

Classified as “sensational”, Clube da Esquina gained prominence on the release for the mix of folk, baroque pop and a touch of psychedelia that give the album a versatile and timeless tone: “Clube da Esquina is inspired by both the Beatles and Chopin – creating one of the richest South American projects already composed,” writes critic Matt Mitchell.

Already The crying is over it constitutes “a perfect mix of rock and samba”, writes the critic. “Instrumentally, The crying is over it’s impressive; Lyrically, the album is full of hope at a time when it shouldn’t”, highlighting the context of the military dictatorship that Brazil was going through at the time.

First place on the list went to Stevie Wonder, Songs in the key of life, from 1973: “The world didn’t know how to make music until Stevie Wonder started making it, and the greatest album of all time is his double-album magnum opus,” writes Matt Mitchell.

Next, the band The Cure, who was in Brazil last year, takes second place with their classic Disintegrationfollowed by Kate Bush, with Hounds of lovewith the song Running Up That Hill, which recently went viral thanks to the series Stranger things.

The list is in line with the recent ranking published by Apple Music, which had no Brazilian names and few Latin representatives. However, considering the TOP 10, there is still a large predominance of albums released by North American or European musicians.
