Fuze prepares new album with an inward look

The band formed by brothers Pedro and Diogo Novaes, cousin Felipe Novaes and friend Guilherme Fonseca, released the first single, ‘Vendo O Mundo do Topo’

Originating in Rio de Janeiro and formed by brothers Pedro It is Diogo Novaesthe cousin Felipe Novaes and the friend Guilherme Fonsecathe band Fuze has been in operation for over eight years. In 2022, the quartet released their debut album, Nobody Buys Records Anymore.

Today, more mature and confident in their own art, the group begins to pave the way for what will be their second album. At the beginning of 2024, they released the single “Seeing the World from the Top,” partnership with Rio Grande do Sul Laura Schadeck. The song is the first single from the new album – which should be released soon.

In conversation with the Rolling Stone Brazilthe boys from Fuze say how fans’ reception of the song has been good. “We’ve really enjoyed what people say, we’ve also been able to talk a lot with the audience at Laurait’s important for that reason too,” explains Pedro.

According to them, the music’s production also expresses a lot of the way they like to play. “We did some cool publicity work, too. Creating a surprise, connecting with a previous song, which is ‘Insane World,’ which has to do with that sound,” he adds Diogo.

The meeting with Laura happened in an “unusual” way, as Philip classify. “We were jamming here in our studio, she was talking to the Diogo and said: ‘I’m going to sprout there in Rio and I’m going to your house,’ from that point on we only strengthened our friendship, she came a couple more times and we started composing, we made the song with her.”

Diogo, William It is Laura They started drafting the song on the day of the jam, but they stopped halfway through because they were very tired. At the time, the band had a show canceled due to a storm.

The feat only made sense because we liked each other, we liked each other before thinking about making the product. I think we do a lot of feats like this. It doesn’t matter the number, or who the person is. We have to connect and this happened naturally with Laura. We became friends and everything happened in a light way.

The band members like to collaborate and it was something they began to explore in more depth after the end of the pandemic. They consider the process “fun,” but there has to be a fit between their art and that of potential partners.

“When you make a song, you always end up exposing an intimate side of yourself,” he says Diogo. They say that the next album will have more appearances and the next single, which should be released before the album, will also have a special appearance.

The second disc

If the first album presented the Fuze, the second should show more mature musicians. In production since the end of 2022, the work, whose name has not yet been released, promises to consolidate the learning process that the band has been going through in recent years.

“More than ever, it will be the most original Fuze,” explains William. Among the themes that should be addressed on the album are some subjects such as the passage of time, maturity, mistakes and successes.

The boys also understand that the work will come with the mission of consolidating the Fuze like never before. “Last year, with the EP and everything we released, we got on the path of recognizing ourselves and putting that out in our art,” he adds Philip.

“We are increasingly saying f*** it,” he says Diogo, about Fuze’s maturity at this point in her career. After almost a decade as a band, the group understood that looking at themselves is the best way to find an audience that identifies with what they sing, without caring about what others are doing. If the most difficult path to follow is the internal one, the Fuze is well underway.
