Roberto de Carvalho releases the video for “Voando” with Rita Lee

The clip features never-before-seen images of the singer in the place where she lived her last years alongside the Brazilian composer

Roberto de Carvalho released on Sunday (9/6) the song and video for “Voando”, recorded with his eternal love, singer Rita Lee (1947-2023). The song, released for the first time on “Fantástico”, is a celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The video was recorded in the place where Rita lived her last years, located in the hinterland of São Paulo. Some scenes are unreleased recordings of Roberto, of various phases of the singer in the place where they lived happily.

“Many afternoons we would sit here listening to the sound of the waters and talking. Even in the clip there is a moment when Rita comes to swim here,” Roberto said, citing one of the homemade images he added to the clip. “The metaphor of the lyrics and the video is as if Rita is flying here. As if she is, no, because she is. She IS here at this exact moment. People who can’t see it, but they can feel it.”

The song “Voando” is a kind of translation of the Italian classic “Volare”, which has already been recorded by big international names and now has a Brazilian version by Rita Lee to the rhythm of Bossa Nova.

This song is part of a huge collection that Rita Lee left behind to be given to her fans after her departure. “It’s a way to kill nostalgia, it’s a way to pay homage to it and to make sure the work stays alive. Stay organically alive,” Roberto said.
