The singer of the Pagode group died on April 26 due to a rare cancer of the groin region
The group Molejo performed for the first time after the death of singer Anderson Leonardo (1972-2024) on the program “Encontro” this Monday (6/10). Andrezinho said the experience would have been different without his friend’s participation, but stressed the importance of keeping the legacy alive.
“For us it’s different, but we always make it clear to everyone that Molejo is born from joy. Anderson always conveyed it to everyone. He always underlined it even when he was in bed,” Andrezinho said in a conversation with presenter Patrícia Poeta.
“Every moment he had, he made a joke, he picked up an instrument, this is what we want to continue to pass on. May he always be remembered like this together with us,” Andrezinho added. “She left this legacy, you bring her here,” Patricia agreed. “It’s about continuing the legacy we’ve built together. We will continue,” she added.
Death of Anderson Leonardo
Anderson Leonardo died on April 26 at Unimed Hospital, in Rio de Janeiro. The musician, 51, had been battling a rare cancer since October 2022, when he discovered a tumor in his groin region. After three months of treatment, he announced his recovery from the disease. However, in May 2023, a new diagnosis revealed metastases to his testicles and he had been undergoing treatment ever since.
In September last year, the artist was admitted to hospital for treatment of a pulmonary embolism and remained in intensive care for 11 days. At the end of February this year he returned to hospital with severe pain and complaining of feeling unwell after a show. It was then that he underwent alternative treatment and a gastric nerve plexus block to control the chronic pain.
Anderson returned to the hospital ill on April 22, where he was admitted to intensive care due to worsening cancer. In serious condition, he died four days later. The musician’s death was mourned by fans, friends and professional colleagues.
