Understand the fight between Ultraje a Rigor, a band called “bankrupt fascists”, and a radio host

After canceling a show at a Kiss FM radio festival, the host posted an opinion about the group and the band quickly responded; the radio released a statement and the radio presenter apologized

The band Ultraje a Rigor and radio host Marco Antônio Abreu, of Kiss FM, were involved in a dispute this Sunday 9th after the band had their concert at the festival promoted by the radio, which will take place on July 13th World Day, canceled of Rock, the presenter celebrated the cancellation on her social networks.

“Thank God, Kiss thought better of it and decided to cancel the radio’s anniversary show with the outrageous shit of Ultraje a Rigor. An important radio like ours deserves a respectable party and not a bunch of bankrupt fascists “he wrote in a later deleted post.

The band didn’t let him go. Also on social media he shared Marco Antônio’s post asking for explanations. “We are attacked by Marco Antônio, they cancel the show that will be held on World Rock Day (a very important date) 36 days before the end of the event and this is what we have in response?”, they provoked.

The radio host apologized for believing he had damaged the radio. “Friends, I would like to clarify that, in a moment of personal emotion, I made a mistake in criticizing a certain musical group and I felt that, without the slightest intention, I had done harm to the station I work for,” he wrote. He then continued: “I apologize to the broadcaster, to my managers and to the public. The criticism I made (my opinion has not changed) is strictly personal and does not reflect any of the vehicles I work for”, he concluded.

The unease was reflected in the radio, which issued a statement claiming that its employees’ posts on their personal profiles do not represent the station’s views. “We treat any issues that may arise due to isolated messages very seriously and, therefore, reiterate to listeners and partners that valid information from Kiss FM can be found on the station’s official channels,” it said.

Ultimately, Roger Moreira, the band’s lead singer, vowed to take the matter to court. “He will apologize to us in court.”

Ultraje a Rigor is currently part of the program The night with Danilo Gentilli. Bassist Mingau is still undergoing treatment after being shot in the head in September.
