The Brazilian drummer revealed, exclusively to Rolling Stone Brasil, what his relationship with the American musician is like after taking his place in the band
The entry of Eloy Casagrande at the Slipknot it created a curious dance of musical chairs in the world of metal; the Brazilian occupied the position of Jay Weinbergwho in turn, transferred to the punk band Suicidal Tendenciesreplacing Greyson Nekrutman. This, in turn, ended up in… GraveEloy’s former band, who announced their farewell tour in December.

Amid the discussed exchanges, Eloy revealed, exclusively to Rolling Stone Brazil, who tried to talk to Jay when he was about to accept the North American band’s invitation, but was unable to continue the dialogue. According to the musician, the initiative came from him to give a touch to his professional colleague, through a private message.
“I sent him a message on Instagram, when I said that almost everything was coming to light, but I think he was traveling and he ended up not seeing my message. But I have great respect for him, for everything he has done, it is a great admiration”, he emphasized.

Anyone who thinks that the two do not intersect is mistaken; Casagrande also revealed that they always had a good relationship when they crossed paths in joint presentations at the time of Sepultura and that, when the group of masked men came to Brazil, it was he who took Weinberg to lunch in the country, classifying the relationship as “very good”.
Of the members who remained with him in Slipknot, he also reveals that he has been closest to the bassist V-Man (Alessandro Venturella) and the percussionist Clown (Shawn Crahan), justifying that they already knew each other before the band change — but that it was well received by everyone: “Everyone was willing to have an open conversation with me, they gave me their numbers and everything!”
After all the changes…
Along with the success of the new band, respect for the previous ones remains in vogue; Eloy made a point of strengthening relationships with colleagues:
“Like the drummers who will replace me or who replaced me in Sepultura, I have great admiration, because everyone is a musician, everyone makes music, even though we change companies.”

However, the São Paulo native does not deny that he remains anxious about the changes, calling it “good anxiety” to make his dream come true. But he has no regrets about making the decision to leave Sepultura before their last tour: “We live for change. Although I’m very happy with all of this, I’m always anxious about what the next step will be.”
The Brazilian public meets Eloy again in the days October 19th and 20that the Allianz Parquein São Paulo, where the Knotfest 2024. Even before the local musician’s announcement, the band revealed that, on each day, a completely different setlist will be performed, featuring songs from the first album in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
