The artist performs at Best Of Blues And Rock in São Paulo, next Saturday, 22nd, opening the festival that takes place in Ibirapuera
One of the big names in the emo scene in Brazil with his band, NX Zero, Di Ferrero is one of the attractions of Best Of Blues And Rock Festival, which passes through several cities in Brazil. The artist performs in São Paulo, next Saturday, 22nd, at Ibirapuera.
Debutant at this festival, Di spoke to Rolling Stone Brazil about what you are preparing. “I already saw that the day was going to be good, that was my concern because it was an open place,” says the artist who classifies the current moment as the “best phase” of his solo career.
My band is very round, just friends and the Best Of Blues And Rock It’s going to be another festival that I’m going to do, happy to be on the festival circuit. And also being able to show my music, the things I’ve released solo since then until now.
Despite years of career, the singer still experiences nervousness before going on stage. “It’s another context. I feel like the nervousness thing, which is that good thing that leaves us with butterflies in our stomach, I’ve felt more in my solo show. But I think it’s good.”
Di Use this as a way to avoid staying in your comfort zone. For this weekend’s festival, for example, he will make a setlist a little different from what he has done in other performances. “At this festival, people go to hear some really good sound. Everything has to be beautiful.”

The show will be more focused on 🙁 A BAD A SPRAY 🙂(2022), the artist’s first solo album. But he must go through other moments in his solo career and some in the band. “‘Closed body‘ is a song that can’t be missed in my show, the crowd likes it and it’s the one I like to play the most.”
The increase in the number of festivals may seem like something new to some people, the vocalist remembers, however, the beginning of NX, when this was a way to make shows possible: “We played at underground festivals,” he says. “It was very difficult for a band of our generation to play alone.” He says that the band started to play more shows alone after it became a hit.
“Festivals took a big hit before the pandemic, there were only big festivals. After the pandemic when I released my album, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many festivals and so many mixes.” Di is happy with the movement and calls himself a “festival rat.”

Solo album
The first album of Di’s solo career came amid a moment of understanding about the phase the world was going through. The COVID-19 pandemic caused people to become secluded and the artist understood that this could be the new dynamic of the world and, consequently, of music.
I started writing during the pandemic. I set up a studio in my closet, moved from São Paulo and focused on sound. We happened to be able to live more and more with that whole thing and the album was being finished.
Used to writing with Gee Rocha for the band, in the solo project Say allowed himself to bring other partners to the album’s compositions, “Como the people of Los Brasileroswhich goes for an even more pop wave, but the guys understand my world.”
The album marked the phase in the life of Sayas he himself highlights, in addition to being a milestone for the fans who have followed him since the NX. The singer confesses that he enjoys the process of making albums, because it’s where he shows other parts of himself “without worrying about how the music is going to go.”

Di He already has some songs that tell a story together – which should be released soon – and this could be a spoiler for what we’ll see when he releases his next solo album.
His inspiration almost always came from a bad moment, “when I needed to get it out, almost therapeutic,” says the artist, who remembers John Lennon, who composed from his pain. “Post-pandemic I was able to make music on sunny days.”
Back then, when I was well, I was going to do something else, not compose. I was going to meet the guys. Today I can get inspiration even from an invention in my head, but some inspiration has to happen. Little everyday things, conversations with my wife, or with a friend. Even films that move me in some way, a sentence from a book.
Generations of fans
During the conversation, we also talked about the fans who have followed him since the band debuted. For Say, the longevity of the relationship is a sign of a genuine feeling. “It means it left an impression, it affected you.”
“I’m like that with my idols too, there are some who don’t even release music anymore.” He reports how artists who made a difference at some point in his life are still in his heart. “I’m happy with NX have done this. It could be comfort, or to get out, the music was there.” If for the artist remaining faithful to his art and his fans is the best way to stay with them, whether in his solo career or with the band, he will always be fine accompanied.
