Netflix will launch a series about ‘N Sync and the manager of the Backstreet Boys

The documentary series follows the rise and fall of the ’90s pop music mogul

Netflix has announced that a documentary about businessman Lou Pearlman (1954-2016) will be among the platform’s releases in July this year. The production follows the rise and fall of the music mogul who created some of the biggest boy bands of the ’90s, the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync.

The documentary series is expected to show that despite launching competing bands, he earned a reputation as a conman after racking up cases for the crime of embezzlement. Virtually everyone who worked with Lou Pearlman reported him for accounting fraud and rigged contracts for his personal assets.

It is worth mentioning that members of the Backstreet Boys were the first to take legal action against the businessman. Soon after, it was the members of ‘N Sync who claimed their rights without even seeing the color of the profits.

“Behind the Scenes of Pop: The Boy Bands Scheme” will be available July 24 on Netflix.
