The former bassist of iconic bands will perform in Sao Paulo in August with his new group, The Light
Bassist Peter Hook, who rose to fame as a member of the groups Joy Division and New Order, will perform in Sao Paulo on August 27, bringing his “Substance” tour with him. The performance will take place at the Audio concert hall and will include songs from the two compilations of the same name published in the 1980s, which bring together the most popular songs of his two former bands.
The new band and the old hits
Hook will be accompanied by his new band The Light, consisting of David Potts (guitar/vocals), Paul Kehoe (drums), Martin Rebelski (keyboards) and Paul Duffy (bass/vocals), and promises a show full of generation-old classics marked.
The setlist will include New Order hits like “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “Blue Monday,” “Ceremony,” “Perfect Kiss,” “Temptation” and “Thieves Like Us.” From Joy Division, audiences can expect “Atmosphere”, “Dead Souls”, “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, “She She She ‘s Lost Control” and “Transmission”.
Peter Hook’s expectations
“I’m really looking forward to this phase,” Peter Hook said of the tour. “The contrast between Joy Division and New Order is very obvious, but they both complement each other very well. My only frustration is not being able to listen to more of our records every night,” he added.
History and career
Peter Hook co-founded and played bass in Joy Division, a band that broke up after the suicide of singer Ian Curtis in 1980. The remaining members formed New Order, who gained notoriety in the 1980s with their innovative sound that it mixed rock, keyboards, and rhythms. Dancing and introspective lyrics.
After leaving New Order, Hook formed the band Revenge, which later became Monaco, together with David Potts, his current partner in The Light.
