Third World War could be very close

Russian ships sailing in Cuban waters challenge American dominance in the Caribbean, established in the 19th century, and this is nothing new in human history. It’s another danger zone and one that could end very badly, with a conflict between Russians and Americans that could exterminate humanity in a few hours.

Centuries ago, North American Admiral Mahan highlighted the strategic importance of Cuba, resulting in the creation of the Guantánamo naval base, shortly after the war against Spain.

The Russian presence contradicts the Monroe Doctrine, and the Democratic and Republican parties are already uniting to defend US supremacy. IN 1960, the Cuban government took advantage of the rivalry between the US and USSR to publicize its policy in Latin America, challenging American imperialism.

Russia offers vital support amid the Cuban economic crisis, exacerbated by the US embargo. The installation of nuclear missiles in Cuba by the Soviets threatens the US, with missiles that could reach Washington and New York.

In 1962, the world was experiencing a new armed peace, with the risk of a nuclear war between the USA and the USSR.

President Kennedy imposed a naval blockade on Cuba, and the threat of confrontation with Khrushchev left the world on the brink of a world war. Fortunately, an agreement was reached: the USA did not invade Cuba and removed its missiles from Turkey, while the former USSR dismantled the Cuban nuclear base, avoiding a conflict.

At the time, Albert Einstein, when asked about a Third World War, said: “I don’t know about the third, but the fourth will be a bow and arrow”.
