Fans shouted ‘Taylor died’ during Charli XCX’s DJ set in São Paulo, last Saturday, 22
Charli XCX didn’t like hearing his fans screaming”Taylor [Swift] died” during PARTYGIRL DJ setin São Paulo, last Saturday, 22.
Hey @charli_xcx, your Brazilian fans have been showing toxic behavior by screaming “Taylor is dead!” in your concerts and events related to you. Could you do something about it? We don’t believe that’s what music should be about. @taylornation13 please take notice in that too. pic.twitter.com/pPU6wWjeXl

Can people please stop? Online or at my shows. This is the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that anyone would think there is room for that in this community. I will not tolerate – Charli XCX via Instagram stories

Same day releases

Internet users pointed out that the proximity of the releases interfered with the charts and prevented Charlie reach the top of the UK rankings.
Indirect in music?
The track “Sympathy is a knife”, from the new album Charli XCXwas pointed out by fans as a hint towards Swift. In the lyrics, she says that she doesn’t want to “see her backstage at her boyfriend’s show” and that she hopes “they finish quickly.”
There are those who believe that Charlie made reference to the short novel by Taylor with Matty Healyvocalist of The 1975. Charlie is engaged to George Danielthe band’s drummer.

Opening show
Charli XCX already performed the opening show with Camila Cabello for Taylor Swift in 2018, during the Reputation Tour. After the performance, Charlie stated that she would not repeat the dose: “I’m very grateful that Taylor asked me on this tour.
