Film follows Seven Psalms, Nick Cave’s project with Warren Ellis to ‘portray the world spiritually’
Nick Cave want audience participation in film Seven Psalms. The production bears the same name as the musical project in partnership with Warren Ellis From bad seeds. There are seven tracks packed with music and spoken poems, plus an 11-minute instrumental act as a closing.
“While in lockdown, I wrote psalms, or small sacred songs – one a day for a week. The seven psalms are presented as a long meditation – on faith, anger, love, pain, mercy, sex and praise. uncertain period. Hope you like it,” Nick stated in a note (via NME).
Cave hopes to receive fan videos for film Seven Psalmswith the premise of “spiritually portraying the world in this moment. An ambitious idea on a small budget.”
To participate, simply submit footage of two minutes or less with something “that is significant. Self-portraits, miracles of nature and natural disasters, the sacred and the profane.”
“It could be a video of the person you love, footage of protest, or something ordinary that you think is beautiful. The themes could be mercy, anger, splendor, pain, loneliness, longing, revelation. [ou] glory.”
Video must be emailed to psalms@nickcave.com by July 26th. The format is MP4, with 720p resolution, shot horizontally.
