The family of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims said they hope the artist understands the gravity of the matter
Singer Ariana Grande outraged the family of Tony Hughes, one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s (1964-1990) victims, after she said she “was in love with serial killers” in an interview on the “Podcrushed” podcast.
The topic came up last week after actor and host Penn Badgley started talking about his character Joe Goldberg from the “You” series. The singer took advantage of the conversation to talk about her passion for serial killers.
“When I was younger I was passionate about serial killers. Years ago, before the ‘Dahmer’ series, I was in a question and answer session with young fans. It was a group of young people, but they were with their parents. One of them told me asked, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?'” Ariana reportedly said she found the comment “cute.”
Ariana then said she asked the young man’s parents for permission to give the “real answer” and revealed her bizarre dream. “I said, ‘Jeffrey Dahmer is really charming. I think I would have liked to meet him, maybe with someone else or something. But I have doubts.’ The parents said something like, ‘We’ll explain to you later, honey.’ “, she declared.
Family event
Ariana Grande’s revelation has outraged the family of Tony Hughes, a nonverbal, hearing-impaired boy who was murdered by Dahmer in 1991. The young man’s mother told TMZ that she hopes the singer understands the seriousness of the comments.
“It seems to me that she has a bad head. It’s not chic or fun to say she’d like to have dinner with him. It’s not even something you should tell young people, what she says she did,” Shirley complained, adding that it’s worrying that Ariana shows no empathy for the families of the victims.
Bárbara, Tony’s sister, stated that the singer’s joking comments invalidate Dahmer’s cruel acts. She said she would like to see her apologize for the controversial statements and tell her fans that her statement was not accurate.
