Babymetal is a Japanese metal band formed in 2010, consisting of Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi). The band originally included Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno), who left in 2018. The band is known for combining elements of heavy metal with J-Pop, creating a unique style known as “kawaii metal” or “kawaii core according to”. According to journalist José Norberto Flesch, the band Babymetal has shows scheduled in Brazil in October.

The Babymetal concept emerged as a subgroup of the Japanese idol band Sakura Gakuin, but quickly gained popularity and its own identity. Their first album, “Babymetal,” released in 2014, received acclaim from both audiences and critics, highlighting songs like “Gimme Chocolate!!” and “Megitsune”. The members’ energetic performance and elaborate choreography, combined with the backing band’s technical prowess, contributed to the group’s global success.

The second album, “Metal Resistance” (2016), further consolidated Babymetal’s position on the international scene, with performances at renowned festivals such as Download Festival and Glastonbury. In 2019, the group released “Metal Galaxy”, further exploring sonic diversity and collaborating with international artists.

Babymetal challenges convention by blending the sweetness of Japanese pop with the aggression of metal, attracting a diverse and global fan base. The group not only transcends cultural barriers, but also redefines what is possible within the metal genre. Their live performances are captivating spectacles, combining music, dance, and theatrics in a unique way.

Over the years, Babymetal has become a cultural phenomenon, proving that innovation and boldness can break new ground in music.
