Dennis’s daughter talks about the importance of her father and Kamilla Fialho in her career
Tília, one of the emerging names of the pop funk scene, carries with her the legacy of funk in your veins. Daughter of DJ Dennis and entrepreneur Kamilla Fialho, important names in the music scene, the singer reveals that growing up immersed in this musical environment has influenced her artistic path, as well as highlighting the importance of her parents in her career.
The artist says that, since she was little, she wanted to follow all her parents’ work and so she was able to build a vision of artistic life and the dream of one day pursuing a career in music.
“I watched my mom create artists from the ground up, so ever since I was little, it was something I admired and saw myself doing in the future. It’s interesting because I have my mom in the strategic creation of everything that’s an artist, and my dad in the music side. Through them I was able to have a 360-degree view of what it means to be an artist and that really fascinated me as much as everyone else.”He states.
Tilia reveals that because of her shyness she had never spoken to her parents. Therefore, when she decided to become a singer it was a real surprise for both of them: “Singing was something I didn’t do in front of them or anyone else. And when I did it and someone praised it, I was embarrassed. But at 17, during the pandemic, I spent a lot of time with my dad at home, something we never had time to do.“.
!So, I asked him to create a song for me, he started producing it and I started singing. A month passed and I started dropping stuff. My dad is a DJ, so I asked him to teach me how to play, I asked my mom to release music for me. They did it, even without understanding anything. Then I decided to continue, and that’s where it all started,” He says.
According to the singer, people already look at her with higher expectations, due to the pressure and responsibility of being the daughter of two big names in the music scene. However, she says she is not stuck on this.
“I was actually just born and I chose this profession, but I can’t hold myself responsible for the expectations that people create in me for being their daughter. At first, this put a lot of pressure on me, it got in my way, because I compared myself in an absurd way, considering that I have 20 years of experience and my father has 20 years of career. Over time, I learned that I don’t have to compare myself, everyone has their own trajectory, their moment. Nowadays, I don’t care, I know what I want, my purpose, and my parents help me. My mother is my manager, my father makes songs with me, always giving me a lot of support. I’m very proud of them, but I don’t enter into that competition or comparison.”he has declared.
