Serial Killer Gets Cornered at Pop Show in Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s New Horror Film

The director described the film “Trap” as “‘Silence of the Lambs’ set at a Taylor Swift concert.”

Warner Bros. has released a new poster and trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming horror film “Trap.” The director of “Sexto Sentido,” “The Village,” “Fragmented,” and “Tempo” is known for presenting big twist endings that are kept completely secret during promotion of the films. However, this time the twist is in the trailer and is an integral part of the story.

The film stars Josh Hartnett (“Oppenheimer”) as a father who finds himself trapped at a concert by pop singer Lady Raven (played by the director’s daughter, Saleka Shyamalan) with his teenage daughter, while the police install security cameras and close down the venue. Concerned about the scene, he ends up discovering that the show is a trap to catch a serial killer who is supposedly there. At this point, the audience also discovers that the protagonist’s greatest concern is not the possibility of his daughter becoming the killer’s victim, but escaping the siege. He himself is the serial killer.

Shyamalan described the film on Monday (7/1) as “‘Silence of the Lambs’ set at a Taylor Swift concert.”

The film is scheduled to premiere on August 8 in Brazil, one day before its release in U.S. theaters.
