The music video for the song “Tough” shows the duo living a peaceful life in the countryside, taking pictures and exchanging affection.
Lana Del Rey and Quavo surprised fans with the release of the track “Tough,” a country-trap collaboration that dropped this Wednesday (7/3). In the chorus, Del Rey sings, “Tough like the mark on an old pair of leather boots / Like a blue collar, a red-earth attitude.”
The video, directed by Wyatt Spain Winfrey, shows the musicians enjoying a life of leisure in a country house, alternating between gunshots, hugs, acoustic guitars and rides in a beat-up Chevy pickup. The lyrics reflect on the trials of life after reaching a better place.
Homage to the take-off
At one point in the clip, Quavo references his cousin Takeoff, crossing his arms in a T-shape as he sings, “Standing in the storm, still shining like a diamond in the rough/And it’s hard if you ever lost someone you love.” Love.” Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos alongside Quavo and Offset, was tragically murdered in November 2022, the victim of stray bullets during a brawl at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.
