The bassist’s daughter took advantage of the news to inform that her father’s health is considered stable
Bassist Mingau, of the band Ultraje a Rigor, is about to undergo another surgery to install a cranial prosthesis, about 10 months after being shot in the head in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, the musician’s daughter, Isabella Aglio, announced the news on Wednesday night (7/3).
“It’s been a while since I shared information about my father, because there wasn’t much news. But now we have good news! In addition to the stability of his condition, we managed to convince the insurance company to pay for the prosthesis, through an injunction, with the help of the lawyer Paulo Orlando,” Isabella said, announcing the date of the surgery.
“So the surgery should take place on July 13th, International Rock Day! As soon as I have news I will let you know. I would also like to ask you to take my father’s official pages (@mingaultraje and @juntospelomingau) as the only reliable source of news about him. Thank you all for your support!”, added the heiress.
Porridge case
Mingau has been on a slow recovery since September 2023, when his car was shot in Paraty, on the coast of Rio. A bullet passed through his skull and he had to undergo two surgeries, leaving him with the aftermath.
According to the investigation, the bassist sped through Praça do Ovo, in the community of Ilha das Costas, in a dark pickup truck. The act aroused suspicion among drug traffickers operating in the Rio region, who fired several shots at the vehicle.
He is responding well to treatment and his daughter celebrates every stage of his recovery on social media. In November, Porridge was able to lift a finger. On the day that marked three months since the accident, she posted a video of her father kissing her on the cheek: “Thank you, my lord! Exactly three months ago, I had the worst day of my entire life and today I receive the best gift from everyone.”
The family has launched a fundraising campaign to help cover medical expenses, and Mingau was recently given a wheelchair. The musician will still need a long period of physical therapy, however.
