The list ranges from rock to hip-hop and the definitive list of the 50 best Brazilian albums to be released at the end of 2024 is in preparation
The Association of Art Critics of São Paulo (APCA) has listed the 25 best Brazilian albums released this semester. The critics’ selection, published this Thursday 4, is the first part of the definitive list of the 50 best albums that will be defined at the end of the year. Listen to all the albums below.
The chosen ones range from classic names of Brazilian composition, such as Hermeto Pasqualthe solo album of Samuel Rose after the breakup of the band Skank and up to the rock of the band Fresno.
“The list reflects a variety of styles, genres and visions of the way of making music in Brazil in this 21st century, from jazz to rap, from funk to rap,” explains Bruno Capelas, one of the eleven critics summoned by the association.
The candidates were selected by Adriana de Barros (editor of the TV Cultura website and host of Mistura Cultural), Alexandre Matias (Trabalho Sujo), Bruno Capelas (Indie Program), Camilo Rocha (Bate e Estaca), Cleber Facchi (Música Instantânea and VFSM Podcast), Felipe Machado (Istoé), Guilherme Werneck (Meio and Hydraulic Tile), José Norberto Flesch (Canal do Flesch), Marcelo Costa (Scream & Yell), Pedro Antunes (Tem um Gato na Minha Vitrola and State) and Pérola Mathias (Open Mouth and Mud Resenhas).
