Justin Bieber Receives R$55 Million to Entertain the Wedding of the Son of Asia’s Richest Man

Singer Justin Bieber, 30, was one of the attractions at the wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man. The celebration took place in Mumbai, India, on Friday (5/6), with the newlyweds Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant investing tens of millions of reais to see the pop star perform as a “warm-up” to the party.

Social media footage shows the Canadian performing hit songs at the event, such as “Baby” and “Boyfriend,” for guests at Ambani and Merchant’s “sangeet.” In Indian tradition, a “sangeet” is a pre-wedding event to celebrate a future union.

The celebration took place at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai, one of the largest convention centers in India, and Bieber was paid $10 million, approximately R$55 million, to perform exclusively for the newlyweds’ guests.

Anant Ambani is the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, CEO of Reliance Industries, India’s largest oil and natural gas producer. According to Forbes, Mukesh Ambani has an estimated net worth of $123.4 billion, making him the 11th richest person in the world.

Radhika Merchant is the daughter of Viren Merchant, owner of the pharmaceutical giant Encore Healthcare. Both young people graduated from American universities and work in the family businesses.

The official wedding celebration will take place next Friday (12/7), with a three-day Hindu ceremony.
