Rio Funk Icon DJ Caverna Dies at 44


The artist died after cardiac arrest

Leandro Santos Mellobetter known as DJ Caverna, died last Saturday, the 6th, at the age of 44. The artist, a point of reference for Rionese funk since the 90s, was buried on the afternoon of Sunday the 7th.

According to FM O Dia, the radio station where he worked, the musician had a heart attack. Caverna felt ill on Saturday morning and was admitted to the hospital. During the night he had a cardiorespiratory arrest.

On social media, friends and celebrities lamented the case. “My feelings! Good boy!” wrote Mumuzinho. “It’s incredible to lose this good boy, may God welcome him,” wrote Buchecha.

Caverna was a Fluminense fan and leaves behind a son. “Still in disbelief, may God comfort your family. Now I spent the whole show remembering you that you accompanied me in my beginnings there at Ideal de Olinda with Furacão. May God rest in peace, DJ!”, said Dennis DJ.
