Guitarist revealed he watched a recent performance of the virtual show Abba Voyage and shared his impressions
Hologram shows are increasingly being discussed. Major artists and bands are already accepting to perform in this format. The virtual show Abba Voyage is the great recent example — and it has proven to be a real success, with successful seasons in Abba Arenabuilt exclusively for the occasion, in London.
Recently retired, the Kiss also confirmed that it will perform shows in the format, with the same company responsible for the digital performance of Abba. O Kiss Avatar It should only debut in 2027, but it is already widely talked about.
Both cases involve veteran names, who are over 70 years old and do not have the same vigor and disposition to continue on stage for a long period. This does not seem to be the case with the late Oasiswhose leaders, the brothers (and enemies) Liam It is Noel Gallagher are, respectively, 51 and 56 years old.
Even so, as the situation between the family members seems irreparable, it is not impossible to think about a show in a virtual format. Noel, guitarist and main composer of the group that ended in 2009, is not opposed to the idea.
In an interview with the podcast of Matt Morgan (via Louder), O Gallagher older man reflected on the situation and hinted that he would be “excited” if he could attend a show of Oasis in the format of Abba Voyagepreserving the band’s peak period. Initially, about having watched the digital performance of the disco music icons, he stated:
It’s f***ing unbelievable. It was great – an hour and a half show. It was very, very impressive. At one point I genuinely thought that the people on stage, who were holograms, were… they looked so real that I thought they were actors. The way they walk on stage is very realistic. If you get the chance to go, it’s worth it. I was very impressed with it, to be honest.
When addressing the possibility of his former band becoming a hologram, Santa may have even adopted a mocking tone, but it did not seem completely ironic. He said:
If anyone wants to do an Oasis show like that, let us know. I’d be happy to do it. I’d say, ‘Great, talk to that guy over there. [provavelmente Liam]then think of a number, it will transmit to me and I will say yes or no’.
Noel Gallagher and the Oasis reunion
It is known that Noel Gallagher is the main obstacle to the return of Oasis. Liam Gallagher has said publicly that the guitarist refuses any and all proposals for the band to reunite, while the singer says he is open to returning, leaving all the fights behind.
In January 2023, however, Santa gave a rare positive signal about a possible return. In an interview with BBCthe musician — who months earlier had compared a band reunion to “going on vacation with your ex-wife” — launched the famous “never say never” when commenting on the possibility.
Never say never. But it would have to be under a series of extraordinary circumstances. That’s not to say those circumstances would never happen. I’m still passionate about songwriting and the creative process. The whole thing never gets old for me.
Most recently, in February 2024, Liam said that Santa refused a meeting to celebrate 30 years of Definitely Maybe. The debut album of Oasis will be remembered only with a luxurious re-release — and with a European tour where the singer plays songs from the album.
