Asked whether rock has lost its importance to the detriment of other musical genres, Badauí disagrees and takes into consideration the origin of styles such as funk: “They are styles that are evident, they tell the reality of many suffering people, especially here in Brazil, of disadvantaged people”.
“Funk comes from the suburbs and, in a certain sense, it is a style of protest as rock has often been”, underlined the frontman, who continued: “Rock, perhaps, is more political than trap, for example, which has the side of victory for those people who have made a career and know how to put on a lot of entertainment, they have a following.”
For the singer, genres do not cancel each other out: «They are still alternative styles, even though the sound doesn’t have much to do with it, many parts, in ideological relationships, sometimes meet, even more so now with this greater evidence».
Next Saturday, the 13th, World Rock Day, CPM 22 will perform in São Paulo for the launch show of their eighth album, Face. In 2025 the band will celebrate 30 years of career.
