Tenacious D Cancel Tour After Guitarist Mocks Trump Attack

The news was shared by actor Jack Black, who said he was “taken aback” by the inappropriate comment

Jack Black announced this Tuesday (16/7) the cancellation of the band Tenacious D’s current tour, after guitarist Kyle Glass made an inappropriate comment about attacking former President Donald Trump.

On Sunday (13/7), Glass celebrated his 64th birthday during a show in Australia and took the opportunity to mock the assassination of the former US president. “Don’t miss Trump next time,” the musician joked.

Black said he was “caught off guard” by his colleague’s inappropriate comment, which sparked a series of criticisms from the public and Internet users. As a result, the actor felt the need to put the band’s future plans on hold.

“I was shocked by what was said at Sunday’s show. I would never allow hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I have decided that it would not be appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding,” Jack Black wrote on Instagram.

Apologies

With the fallout, Kyle Glass also spoke out about what happened on the Australian show and apologized for mocking the attack on Trump. “What happened [com Donald Trump] This was a tragedy and I am sorry for my terrible error in judgment. I apologize to those I have disappointed and I am sorry for all the pain I have caused.”
