Rapper and actor Will Smith recently gave an interview to Black Film Allies where he revealed that he is working on new music.
“I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half”He said. “I have a project that is the most personal and powerful musical project I’ve ever done. The idea of the song is ‘Dance in your darkest moments’.”
It is worth mentioning that he sang the new song You can do it at this year’s BET Awards, with the song debuting at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. The song currently sits at No. 14 and has been on the chart for three weeks.
He also recently posted a video of Russ testing out a car to the song Artwork and said he had just finished his album before showing the video. It’s worth noting that Will Smith hasn’t released a full album since then Lost and found2005.
While there is no title or release date for the project yet, there is an Instagram page and a website under construction titled Dance in Your Darkest Moments, which indicates that will be the name of the album. The bio on the Instagram page says it is “a human wellness initiative designed to inspire self-exploration, encourage acceptance, and cultivate a celebration of life.”
Will Smith Performs Single “You Can Make It” at BET Awards
Will Smith he presented his new song to BET Awards, You can do itfeaturing Chandler Moore, Kirk Franklin and the Sunday Service Choir.
Smith began his performance on the awards stage surrounded by fire and singing rap lyrics.
“The darker the hell you have to harden / The brighter the heaven you can enjoy / The harder the fall, the higher you climb / God opens a window when the devil closes the door / Believe me, they tried to bleed Will Smith dry / In the rearview mirror, I see that adversity was the gift / To lift me to higher gifts requires faith”says the text.
It is worth mentioning that the presentation also included elements of rain, ending with the extinguishing of the fire.
“I’m back home! The turnaround is always greater than the failure”, Will wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“From his early days as a rapper on The Fresh Prince to becoming a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon and we are honored to welcome him back to the BET Awards stage.”said Connie Orlando, BET’s executive vice president of specials, music programming and music strategy, in a statement.
