Brazilian Anitta competes in three categories, alongside Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Eminem, LISA and other big names
THE MTV has just announced the first musical attractions of the Music Video Awards 2024 (VMA). THE The artists will perform on the night of September 11th Camila Cabello, Glorilla, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan AND Raw Alessandro on stage at the UBS Arena in New York. The event will be broadcast live in more than 150 countries, including Brazil, on MTV’s channel and streaming service Fundamental+.
The broadcaster will reveal further attractions, presenters and special guests in the coming weeks. VMAInitially scheduled for September 10, its date was moved to the following day due to the debate between the candidates for the presidency of the United States.
Voting for the 2024 VMAs is now open to the public on MTV’s official website. Fans can vote for their favorite artists in 15 gender-neutral categories, including Clip of the year, Best Business AND Artist of the Year. The vote for New Artist will remain open until the day of the event, September 11th.
This year’s date selection marks the 23rd Anniversary of the September 11 Attackswith MTV supporting organizations that provide assistance to the families of the victims and organize the National Day of Service and Remembrance for September 11.
Candidates
Among the highlights of the award, Taylor Swift leads the nominations list with ten nominations, followed by Post Malonewith nine nominations. Arianna Grande, Emminem AND Sabrina Carpenter appear right behind, with six nominations each. Megan The Stallone AND SZA compete in five categories, while LISA, Olivia Rodrigo AND Teddy swims compete in four.
Among the nominees is also the Brazilian Anitta, who competes in three categories: Best Latin Clip AND Better collaboration for his success with Maluma.
Camila Cabello returns to the VMAs for the third time, bringing her fourth studio album, C,XOXOThe artist, who has already collected four VMA trophies and 15 nominations during his career, is now looking for his fifth Moon Person (name given to the award), this time in the category Best Pop Video.
Singer Sabrina Carpenter will make her VMA main stage debut. After her performance at last year’s Pre-Show, Carpenter returns this year with six nominations, including Artist of the Year AND Song of the year.
Chappell Roan, the revelation of 2024, will make his first live performance at an awards show. With his recent success in Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Good luck, darling!The performance is expected to reflect the impact of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess. Roan is nominated in two categories, including New Artist.
GloRilla, who emerged as the most successful female rapper of 2024, will make her VMA stage debut with her single Yes, Glo. Nominated in three categories, including MTV’s Best Push AND Best Hip Hop Video.
Another Latin representative and Latin GRAMMY winner, Rauw Alejandro, will bring his dance moves to the VMA stage for the first time, previewing his highly anticipated fifth studio album. The Puerto Rican is competing in three categories and is looking for his first trophy.
