“This collaboration feels so special as we are both such important inspirations to each other in different ways,” he wrote. Smith on Instagram when promoting the song. Elu also praised the singer during a live on the social network:
I have to say that when I heard you sing ‘Lay Me Down’, I was in the car singing it on the way to a show, and you took my breath away! It’s such a hard song — it’s the hardest song in my repertoire to sing every night, and you did such a beautiful, incredible job and it brought tears to my eyes when I heard it. You’re amazing and I really hope we can sing it together live. It would be a dream come true.

Prophecy?
In 2019, during a performance at Rock in Rio, Iza told the audience that she herself was once part of the festival’s audience: “Exactly four years ago, on September 29th, I was there, watching the show of Sam Smith“.
In 2019, the @IzaReal told us something that happened during Sam Smith’s show at Rock in Rio in 2015.
Cut to 2024 and she’s just going to release a feat with none other than SAM SMITH! 🗣️🗣️🗣️
She deserves it so much! 😭

“I knelt on the floor and said: ‘God, I know that in 2017 it won’t be possible, but in 2019, please, if I have the opportunity to be on stage and do what he’s doing — which is moving other people — I think I’ll be the happiest person in the world'”, said the artist, reinforcing to her fans that they shouldn’t give up on their dreams.
