Gilberto Gil opens ticket sales for last tour; see prices

The singer and songwriter Gilberto Gil opened general ticket sales for his latest tour this Thursday (22), Time Kingscheduled to premiere in March 2025.

Around 100,000 tickets were sold in the pre-sale, which began last Monday (19) and was exclusive to Banco do Brasil customers.

The tour will pass through nine cities in the country and will also feature dates in the United States and Europe.

Tickets cost between R$180 and R$1,580 depending on the sector and city. See below for more information about the event and tickets.

Last tour

Just like it sings in the song “King Time”from 1984, Gilberto Gil transformed the old ways of living.

He composed the song as a response to the “Prayer to Time”from the countryman Caetano Veloso. The two joined the efforts of religion, physics, philosophy and literature to try to define the concept of time.

While Caetano Veloso sings in his music the idea that time and the one who invented it will disappear, Gil brings a vague desire for permanence and transformation. This is one of the reasons behind the name of the artist’s latest tour.

The singer has been thinking about not performing shows like this for some time now. He sees it as a natural decision to reduce the intensity of his schedule. There is also a change in perspective, which is now less focused on the material plane and closer to spirituality.

There were several factors that I considered when deciding to hold one last tour. I reflected on this market and also on the physical demands required for these big shows. I want to continue making music in a different rhythm, but first, we will have this beautiful celebration with the audience and family. Transform the old ways of living”, says Gilberto Gil.

Time King It will be an experience celebrating the extensive musical work of the singer and composer from Bahia, a soundtrack that is rooted in Brazilian culture.

The challenge of the latest tour is precisely to condense this national treasure and take it to the stage, praising the various Gilbertos we know: the singer and composer; the tropicalist imprisoned by the military dictatorship and exiled in London; the Minister of Culture; the immortal of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and the patriarch of a musical family, among many other versions.

It’s natural for us to talk about ‘time’ from different perspectives and I keep thinking about all the trips and tours we’ve done. We’ve been on the road for 43 years, touring the country and the world with Gil’s music. In recent years, we’ve translated his career into audiovisual media, on multidisciplinary platforms, and now we’re taking this complete story to the stage for one last large-scale tour,” he adds. The tour is also produced by the production company 30e, presented by Banco do Brasil and sponsored by Correios.
