The Victorian Home Where The Beatles Began Their Career Becomes an Airbnb: See the Photos

With rooms that pay homage to Lennon and McCartney, the Casbah Coffee Club now welcomes guests to Liverpool

Fans of Beatles around the world they move mountains to relive the conquests of the iconic group. From Wednesday 21st they have the opportunity to rent on Airbnb an apartment that is part of the history of British music and world rock. The house, purchased by Mona Best, mother of Pete Best, the drummer who was part of the initial lineup of the Beatles, was inaugurated in 1959.

Mona transformed the basement into a space where Pete and his friends could meet and listen to music, and later it became a concert hall. The Quarrymen, the precursor band to the Beatles, performed there 13 times, receiving a fee of £3 (about R$21.80) in total. Later, when they returned from Germany as the Beatles, they played there more than 40 times, according to the newspaper The Guardian.

Now the rooms have been set up as holiday rooms, designed to receive guests and tourists, and the building functions as a tourist attraction, with the historic underground areas open to visitors. There are rooms that bear the name John Lenon, Paul McCartney and early members of the group, such as bassist Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best. The spaces are decorated with furniture reminiscent of the Beatles, including photographs, posters and guitars on the walls.

On Airbnb, the room listing describes: “This beautiful Victorian mansion is famous for being the home of the Casbah Coffee Club, where The Beatles performed and regularly stayed from 1960 to 1962.” The McCartney Suite sleeps up to two people and consists of a bedroom, kitchen, dining area and bathroom, with access to the gardens, located in the vibrant West Derby neighborhood. Staying two nights in the property costs around 3,000 reais at the current price of the McCartney Suite. The minimum reservation is two nights.
