MC Marcinho’s son records his father’s new song

The song “Inexplicably” marks Mc Marcinho Jr’s debut in the music market

Singer Marcio André Jr, son of the late MC Marcinho (1977-2023), will release a new song next Tuesday (27/8) featuring his father’s voice. The song “Inexplicably” is part of a series of new material produced by the funk singer, who passed away in August last year.

The song was written by DJ Detona in 2018, when Marcinho entered the studio to complete it with the special touch of his voice. However, the song had never been released by the artists, which motivated the unprecedented partnership with his heir. The lyrics portray the love story of a couple, separated by time.

“I had the idea of inviting his son to form a duo with his father, which is something that really touched me and I think will touch the audience as well. In addition to paying homage to the beginning of funk history, when many MCs sang doubles,” Detona told Extra newspaper.

Funk debut

The song, which portrays the new phase of Detona’s career, also marks the debut of Marcio André in the music market under the code name “MC Marcinho Jr”. The boy has already played a few shows this year, but this marks his first official release.

“My father always spoke about love like no other. And being in a romantic song with him was a gift that life, through Detona, gave me. Because, maybe it’s even funny to say, but he didn’t know about my interest in a musical career. It was something that happened only now and he ended up not realizing it, but I’m sure that, wherever he is, he looks at our new work with great pride,” said Marcinho Jr.

The song “Inexplicavelmente” already has a music video recorded at the Ruins of São José da Boa Morte, in Cachoeiras de Macacu, a municipality of Rio de Janeiro. But it has not yet received a release date.

Farewell to MC Marcinho

Funk pioneer MC Marcinho died in August 2023, at the Copa d’Or Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The 45-year-old singer had been hospitalized since late June, after complaining of severe chest pain. His case worsened in July, when he suffered a cardiac arrest and was intubated.
