The British band could return to the stage after 16 years, if brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher keep the truce
Oasis, one of the most important British rock bands of the 90s, are planning a reunion in 2025 for an unprecedented tour of England. The information has been confirmed by the international press, which revealed that the presentations are expected to take place during the British summer next year, with shows scheduled at Wembley Stadium, London, and Heaton Park, Manchester.
What happened
According to the Sunday Times, the Gallagher brothers, known for both their band’s success and their constant bickering, have not performed together since August 2009, when they played at the V Festival in Stafford. The possible return of Oasis has generated great anticipation among fans, especially because of the contrasting history between Noel and Liam.
Clues and provocations
With the news spreading, Liam Gallagher wanted to fuel the rumors on his social networks. When a user of X (formerly Twitter) mocked the possible reunion of the band, Liam responded: “See you on the grid”.
In May of this year, Oasis had already excited fans by posting a mysterious video on the band’s official Facebook page. The footage showed a boat sailing towards a house on the banks of a river, without any caption or explanation, but it was enough to spark speculation about a possible comeback.
History of the fights
The Gallagher brothers’ reunion is eagerly awaited by those who miss the original Britpop. If it happens, it will coincide with a revival of the sound of the era. Several new bands, such as Institute, Siracuse, Dirty Laces and Pleasure Pill follow closely the musical formula of Oasis.
The problem is that Liam has already publicly stated that Noel was the main person responsible for the band’s breakup. On the other hand, Noel has not been less and has made several negative comments about Liam’s solo work, even describing his albums as “music for unsophisticated people”.
