“I think one of my best moments was when we were playing with my friend, Mark Curry —whom I met here on Martha’s Vineyard—and Krist [Novoselic] and Dave [Grohl] came to get me,” he began. “We were in Seattle, playing at the Seattle Art Museum Steps.”
The singer also pointed out that Sarah McLaughlin“with darker hair”, also performed that day.
“Krist and Dave picked me up at the end of the show. They said, ‘Come with us,'” he continued. “We messed around in the Mustang Dave and we took the Kurt [Cobain]. He [Dave] waited for about 40 minutes. He wanted to see the guy’s face Kurt when he saw me in the back seat of the car. Kurt took it easy.”
We played, and I played the drums. We had fun until dawn. We went to Kristwe listened to music on the jukebox and watched a bunch of weird old tapes they’d never seen before. It was a lot of fun.
The party, fueled by marijuana and wine, was, according to Givinga taste of what would become the In Utero (1993). Among the songs that the lead singer of Lemonheads heard firsthand was “Heart-Shaped Box”.
“And then he died…”, he noted. Givingchanging the tone of the conversation. “I know he knew what the truth was. It was like some kind of early spiritual experience.”
Death of Kurt Cobain
The tour of Nirvana which passed through Germany in 1994 had to be interrupted when Cobain was diagnosed with bronchitis and laryngitis. He was taken to a hospital in Rome and on March 4, he overdosed on champagne and Flunitrazepam.
Friends and the musician’s wife, Courtney Loveconvinced him to go to rehab in Los Angeles to help him overcome drug abuse.
Cobainhowever, escaped from the institution and returned to Seattle, without Courtney knew. An electrician found him dead at the home on Lake Washington Boulevard. Kurt would have taken his own life on April 5th.
High doses of heroin were found in the artist’s system and a shotgun next to his body.
