“As demonstrated in 2022 and 2023 with our arrival in Latin America in different territories and formats, any Primavera Sound event is built with rigorous quality standards wherever it is held. It is this level of demand in artistic and production terms that has established us at the forefront of music festivals around the world.
Our reunion plans scheduled for late November and early December this year, with festivals in Buenos Aires and São Paulo and Primavera Day in Montevideo and Asunción, will unfortunately have to wait. Current circumstances lead us to announce that Primavera Sound will not take place in Latin America in 2024, due to external difficulties that prevent us from organizing events at the level that the public that supports us so much deserves.
In the words of Alfonso Lanza, director of Primavera Sound: “This is undoubtedly a difficult decision, taken after many months of work and after having explored different avenues to be able to carry out these events with guarantees, especially in the current challenging situation in the music industry. Once all the possibilities have been exhausted, we must be prudent and now invest all our energy in future plans.” And he adds: ‘We want to thank our local partners for their dedication and commitment, who have shown their invaluable support for a project in which we continue to believe for its cultural value and for the expansion of musical routes in Latin America, which we consider positive for all parties involved in the process, from fans to artists.
Of course, our work doesn’t end here. Nor does our connection with Latin America, where we felt welcomed from the first second by an enthusiastic and loving community that has made this festival model its own. With the conviction and hope that Primavera Sound will return stronger to Latin America, we are already looking to the future to make this happen as quickly as possible.”
