According to Victor, after witnessing the commotion, he ran to inform his friends who were with him at the show. When he turned to see the commotion, he saw that he had been shot. “I felt a scratch and blood started coming out,” he said in an interview with TV Tem, Rede Globo’s affiliate in the region.
She also said she received help from her friends, but no assistance from the on-site clinic. “It was a riot. We had nowhere to go, nowhere to run. We had to get in the car and go to the hospital.”
What happened
A 29-year-old man was shot and killed during Rodeo Music, a music festival held in the city of Marília (SP), in the early hours of Saturday 31. As announced by the organizers of the event, the shots were fired by a military police officer. The situation apparently erupted due to a fight. The assailant was arrested, his weapon was seized and the case was registered as homicide and negligent bodily harm at the Marília Sectional Police Station.
The company Mega Eventos, which organizes the rodeo, claims that there was no breach of private security, since the killer was a military police officer and “the legislation allows security agents to participate armed in this type of event.”
Lauana also commented on the incident on social media and called the situation a “deplorable episode”. “In the middle of the show, everything was going well and we were surprised by a person carrying a firearm, who, unfortunately, hit an individual, killed one person and injured another,” the singer said.
The Rodeos Parliamentary Front lamented the incident and said that “a young man lost his life for extremely trivial reasons.” “It saddens us even more that this act was committed by an active police officer during his free hours, but who, during a festive event, used his weapon against another young man, in the middle of the crowd, for a useless and irrelevant action, an unacceptable act of violence,” it said.
Defense of the PM
Felipe Braga, Moroni’s defense attorney, said in an interview with the broadcaster that the reason for the fight was not just a question of space. According to him, the man who was hit had “uncomfortable behaviors,” such as spilling beer, bumping into him and hitting the children around him with his hat.
The lawyer also said that Moroni was punched in the mouth when he went to warn the man. At that moment, he pulled out his gun, identified himself, and the victim approached to try to take the gun. It was at that moment, according to him, that the shots were fired.
