At 49, singer Simony is preparing to release a memoir, and on Tuesday, September 10, she revealed a deeply personal chapter of her life. In a touching outburst, Simony shared the challenges she faced while battling bowel cancer, diagnosed in 2022.
During this time, the artist revealed that she was involved in a narcissistic relationship, an episode she now describes in the hopes of helping other women in similar situations.
Simony didn’t name names, but many fans linked her words to her previous engagement to singer Felipe Rodriguez. Their relationship lasted four years and ended in February of this year, coinciding with the time period Simony described in her rant.
She said that even at her most vulnerable, dealing with emotional fragility and cancer treatment, she found the strength to walk away from the abusive relationship.
“Unfortunately, I lived a narcissistic relationship. And, with all my emotional fragility and illness, I became stronger and I was able to leave“, she wrote. Simony’s words resonate with the complexity and challenge many women face when they find themselves in abusive relationships.
For many, it is a constant struggle between the desire to be cared for and the emotional manipulation that masks abuse as a form of protection. Simony emphasized this “every molester disguises himself as a protector. It’s never a matter of care. It’s a matter of power.”
Simonia: Self-Love and Transformation
After her relationship with Felipe Rodriguez ended, Simony shared a post on social media that reflected her transformation and personal maturity, deeply affected by dealing with cancer. In her message, she emphasized the importance of self-love and resilience, noting how cancer has helped her become a more mature and confident person.
“Cancer has changed many things about me. Today I am much more mature, less needy and very confident. I know my value and I don’t waste time, it is very precious.“, declared Simonia.
It also reinforced the importance of putting yourself first and never allowing anyone to emotionally manipulate you.”The emotional woman comes out and a confident, demanding and very happy woman comes in. Love yourself and always put yourself first. Don’t let anyone manipulate you emotionally.“, he concluded.
Simony’s story offers a sensitive and powerful insight into the complexities of managing an abusive relationship, especially in the midst of a challenging health battle like cancer. Her courage in sharing her experience not only illuminates the reality of many women, but also serves as a reminder that even in the most difficult situations, it is possible to find strength and personal transformation.
