Some of the band’s hits will be left out of Gilmour’s show setlist
David Gilmour is back on stage and has shows scheduled in cities in Europe and the United States. Thinking about the setlist for his performances, he preferred to exclude some of the hits from Pink Floyd.
In an interview with the magazine Mojo earlier this week (via NME), the guitarist said: “There are songs from the past that I no longer feel comfortable singing.”
“I love ‘Run Like Hell’. I loved the music I created for it, but the whole ‘You’d better run, run, run…’ thing now I think, I don’t know… A little scary and violent,” he continued.
Gilmour He added other compositions to the list: “‘Another Brick in the Wall’ is another one I shouldn’t perform. I don’t think I ever performed it with my own band, but I certainly did after I Roger [Waters] left the Pink Floydagainst my better judgment.”
“Same with ‘Money’. I won’t play that one,” he added. Other classics from the band, however, won’t be discarded: “I’ll stick with the ones that are essentially my songs, and I feel a certain sense of ownership. ‘Comfortably Numb’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’, maybe.”
All the songs mentioned, on the other hand, often appear in the shows of Roger Waters.
