Rock in Rio: Rock World vice-president reveals obstacles to forming line-up

Zé Ricardo explained why the festival doesn’t always respond to fans’ requests

Joe Ricardovice president of Rock World, explained why the artists most requested by fans do not always make it to Brazilian festivals. The company is in charge of events such as Rock in Rio and the Lollapalooza Brazil.

“THE Rock in Rio has a strength, and we also learn to deal with difficulties. We are sailors on any sea. There are days when the sea is great and other times when it is not for fish, but you have to bring food home. Sometimes, on the internet, people ask for names in a way that makes it seem like the artists are at home just waiting for our call”, he said in an interview with Extra.

But it’s nice to see gigantic artists, like Mariah Careyor Travis Scottwanting to come here. Just as there are those who use our festival as an affirmation that a future tour will have an audience, as happened with Bruno Marswhich came first to The Town before doing solo shows.

Joe He also recalled that “the arena tour market has multiplied in recent years” and “artists travel with 200 people in their crew”. With dates planned properly to complete a tour, musicians do not always find space to fit a festival into the itinerary, in addition to the fact that “changing a week in the schedule would make it very difficult to change the lives of these 200 people”.

The vice-president of Rock World preferred not to reveal which names are still being considered to make up the line-up for the next editions of the Rock in Rio.
