Eclectic programming includes Chitãozinho e Xororó, Zeca Pagodinho, Capitão Inicial, Ney Matogrosso, Hyldon, Autoramas, Luisa Sonza, Ludmilla and many more
The Brazilian Rock in Rio Day lineup, scheduled for this Saturday (21/9), will bring country music to the event’s main stage for the first time. Performances also include samba, pagode, MPB, Bahian music, trap and even rock in a celebration of national music, with artists representing various styles. Among the headliners are Ana Castela, Chitãozinho & Xororó and Alcione, in an event designed to please fans of popular music, but which, ironically, sold fewer tickets than the other days of the festival.
Connection between musical styles
Zé Ricardo, artistic vice president of Rock in Rio, accepted the challenge of organizing Brazil Day with a program entirely composed of national artists. According to him, the goal is to create a “collective catharsis” by bringing together repertoires that connect different musical genres. “Brazil Day will be the one in which the public will hear the most hits in the entire history of the festival,” he told the newspaper O Globo.
Many of the performances will be meetings between artists, who will celebrate their respective musical genres together on stage.
Palco Mundo shows
Palco Mundo’s program includes “Pra semper trap”, which will bring together some of the main names in national trap, such as MC Cabelinho, Filipe Ret, Kayblack, Matuê, Orochi, Ryan SP and Veigh. The musician and producer Duani was chosen to produce this show, who tried to create a musical fluidity between the hits of each MC. “I’m trying to dance with the arrangement so that the show brings something new from start to finish”, he emphasized.
Another highly anticipated show is “Pra semper MPB”, hosted by Ney Matogrosso, which will feature artists such as Daniela Mercury, Carlinhos Brown, Gaby Amarantos and BaianaSystem. Producer Pupillo, former drummer of Nação Zumbi, is responsible for orchestrating this show that unites different generations of Brazilian music.
Forever Rock will feature Capital Inicial, Pitty, NX Zero, Toni Garrido (ex-Cidade Negra), Rogério Flausino (Jota Quest) and Detonautas. Liminha, a legendary music producer, is in charge of coordinating the performances, promising unique encounters between these icons of Brazilian rock.
Trap, rap and pop on the Sunset Stage
The Sunset Stage will also bring great attractions, starting with the show “Forever rap”, organized by producer Daniel Ganjaman. The presentation will feature Marcelo D2, Criolo, Djonga, Xamã, Karol Conká, Rincon Sapiência and Rael, in a show that seeks to tell the history of national rap through the songs of these great names. “Rap is very personal, so the idea is for each artist to tell their own story through their songs,” commented Ganjaman.
In “Pra sempre pop”, the protagonists will be Luísa Sonza, Gloria Groove, Duda Beat, Jão, Lulu Santos and Ivete Sangalo, under the direction of Douglas Moda, producer of recent hits such as “DOCE 22” (Luísa Sonza) and “Afrodhit” (Iza). Moda promises a show full of hits, with an energetic performance that should keep the audience excited from start to finish.
Meeting of generations in country music and samba
In the country, “Pra semper sertanejo” will feature Chitãozinho & Xororó, Júnior, Luan Santana, Simone Mendes and Ana Castela, accompanied by the Heliópolis Symphony Orchestra. “Pra semper samba” will bring Zeca Pagodinho, Alcione, Jorge Aragão and other big names of the genre, directed by Zé Ricardo himself, who intends to maintain the spontaneity typical of samba environments.
There is no shortage of variety
In addition, Espaço Favela will provide a stage for indigenous music, classical music and a lot of funk. The pioneers Buchecha, MC Carol and Tati Quebra Barraco will join Kevin and Chris, and the new generation is represented by Livinho, MC Don Juan, MC Dricka, MC Hariel, MC IG, MC PH.
While DJs will take turns on the New Dance Order Stage, the Global Village Stage will give space to jazz and aspects such as the Soul of Black Rio, Cláudio Zoli and Hyldon, and the bossa nova of Bossacucanova and Cris Delanno, Leila Pinheiro, Roberto Menescal and Wanda Sá.
Finally, the Supernova Stage will host full shows by Jean Tassy, Chico Chico, Vanguart and Autoramas, who are celebrating 25 years of career.
