The film’s soundtrack album will be released on Friday with 13 songs, including new versions of 70-year-old classics
Lady Gaga surprised fans by announcing the release of her album “Harlequin,” an album of songs she sings on the soundtrack to “Joker: Delirium a Two.” The album will be released next Friday (9/27) with 13 songs, including re-recordings of classics like “That’s Entertainment” and “Smile,” songs that are more than 70 years old.
“Joker: Delirium for Two” will premiere next week, on October 3 in Brazil, and will star Gaga as Harley Quinn, in a new take on the character, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who reprises his role as the Joker.
Soundtrack and new album
“Harlequin” is not considered a full-length studio album by Lady Gaga, but rather a work directly related to the film. Gaga has previously teased her fans on social media that the songs are not part of her long-awaited seventh studio album, often referred to as “LG7.” She also announced that the first single from her new studio album will be released next month.
Partnership and production
The soundtrack follows her recent collaboration with Bruno Mars, on the single “Die With a Smile,” which will not be featured on “LG7.” The new album’s production involves award-winning producer Andrew Watt, as well as long-time collaborators Bloodpop and Benjamin Rice.
Exploring new genres
In interviews, Gaga has said that her musical work in the film is “totally different” from what she has done before. She has also highlighted her interest in exploring new musical paths, breaking away from traditional genres.
