After the release of Your bloodIn August, Ney Matogrosso and Hecto reunite again to present the single Our crywhich arrives on digital platforms the same day October 4th by Som Livre. The songs are part of the album Songs for a new worlda project born from the union between Ney and Hecto, and which will be launched in 2024.
Our cryfrom Guilherme Gê (Hecto singer), in collaboration with Déa Moura, is a multi-faceted song. It brings old samba-inspired lyricism and melody in the opening verses, while also taking the listener into a powerful rock chorus, with poetic phrases and strong criticism of religious and political extremism.
In this high-impact duet, Ney and Gê blend the rock weight of their interpretations with the subtlety of Brazilian singing to create a powerful mix, while the rap-style spoken lines add a modern and innovative layer to the performance, reflecting the diversity and cultural richness of Brazil.

The lyrics portray the harsh Brazilian reality, but also celebrate freedom. It reflects on the challenge of dealing with the avalanche of daily information and the need to maintain control of life to make conscious choices.
“I started writing these lyrics many years ago in collaboration with Déa Moura. It was born during good conversations over wine, Chico Buarque and Fernando Pessoa. These influences stand out in the verses: “Boy, you don’t understand this world / of chaos, that rotates a thousand times a year / It’s better to take off your hat and close your eyes / So as not to lose remote control of your life”, comment Ge.
Ney Matogrosso and Hecto: the lyrics portray the harsh Brazilian reality, but also celebrate freedom.
“After a long time, I rediscovered the connection with the song, thinking about Ney Matogrosso’s voice and creating other parts and new nuances, which are also part of Hecto’s sound and identity. When Ney recorded the voice in the studio, everything became very clear. He always opens new windows, new interpretative paths, he always takes the song to another level”, completes the singer and composer.
Second Ney Matogrossothe harmony between the artist and the Eight stands out in the song: Listening to our recording, I realize that we have an affinity, we sing together very easily!, he says.
Antony Ciceroimmortal of Brazilian Academy of Letterspoet, lyricist, philosopher and writer commented: “The music is wonderful and should be listened to with the utmost attention. Congratulations for writing such a strong, beautiful and current poem.”
