The musician had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in recent weeks

Bassist Pit Passarell, of the heavy metal band Viper, died this Friday (27/9) at the age of 56. He had been hospitalized since early September and had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This week, the Brazilian group had already postponed the show that was supposed to perform on Saturday (28/9) in Curitiba, due to the musician’s worsening clinical condition.

The information was confirmed this morning by his brother, guitarist Yves Passarell, member of Capital Inicial and former member of Viper. “It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of our beloved brother Pit Passarell. Surrounded by his lifelong family and friends. A life full of light, love, joy, musicality and courage. We will miss him and miss him dearly. We will help you I love you, my brother!” he wrote.

In a statement published on Thursday (26/9), Viper had already commented to his followers that they avoided revealing further details about Passarell’s health status, as they awaited the “results of all tests”, including the biopsy.

The band said it is “facing this battle with a lot of strength, courage and determination that it has always shown throughout its life” and asked its fans to unite “in positive thoughts and good energy” so that it can overcome the condition. . The musician was supported by his family during this difficult period.

History

In late August Pit fell ill and had to receive medical treatment on stage during the 35th anniversary celebration of Viper’s “Theater of Fate”. The performance was not interrupted and the bassist insisted on returning to the show to play the last songs after being assisted.

Days later, Viper reported that Pit had been hospitalized for investigation of his discomfort during the event, but there was no expectation of discharge. Despite the presumed severity, the musician felt better and was well cared for by the medical team.
