About The Weeknd’s unique performance in Brazil
With the publication of Hurry Up Tomorrow as a priority, The Weeknd left hits, such as “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming”, out of the setlist, which led fans to comment “the other [show] it was better”, referring to the artist’s visit to Brazil in October last year.
On that occasion, during the tour After Hours Til Dawnhe played over 40 tracks. This weekend, however, the repertoire was reduced to 27 songs — with several of them arriving as shorter versions.
The Weeknd passed through MorumBis via a catwalk, which took the stage from one end of the stadium’s ellipse to the other. A two-story structure in the middle of the catwalk, however, blocked the view of part of the public — in addition to the typical cell phones raised throughout the presentation to record Abel.
The artist invited Playboi Carti to sing “FE!N” and “TIMELESS”, which raised the audience’s energy. Right away, Anita appeared at the top of the temple in the middle of the catwalk and danced to the sound of a new partnership with The Weekndwhich includes sample of success of Tati Quebra Barraco.

After an hour and a half of the concert, another surprise was the departure of The Weeknd of the spotlight. Without an encore, he thanked São Paulo — the only expression in Portuguese, in fact, that he tirelessly repeated to his fans — and ended the show. Soon after, drones formed the name of the last album in the singer’s trilogy (of which Dawn FM and After Hours are part). For about ten minutes, then, the spectators remained in their seats waiting for the return of Tesfaye to the stage. That didn’t happen.
