SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains an important spoiler for the Mrs. Wonder the final. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, continue at your own risk!

Time Mrs. Wonder In its entirety a wonderful, creative and fun new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the final moments of the finale will likely be remembered as the franchise’s start into a special new era. It turns out that Kamala Khan has powers not only because of the mystical bracelet she is wearing, but because she is a mutant (the first character identified with that term in the canon). This is clearly a big step towards the eventual introduction of x men in the MCU … and of course Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige went into full compartmentalization mode, without even revealing the details Mrs. Wonder directors / producers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Following the Mrs. Wonder final coming to Disney + this week, I interviewed both directors about their work on the show this morning and the first topic of conversation was Kamala Khan as a mutant. I asked about the origins of this bombshell and Adil El Arbi explained that he and Bilall Fallah (who co-directed the first and last episode) were unaware of the reveal until we gave them the script. The referee said

It’s something that was like the show’s best kept secret. We only found out at the last moment. And then we had this script, and then we read it and it was like, ‘Is this really … is this really what we think it is?’ And then we asked Kevin [Feige]’So …’, a million questions would follow and Kevin wouldn’t answer any of those questions.

Marvel fans have spent more than a decade observing Kevin Feige’s amazing ability to hide spoilers and dodge questions about the future of the MCU, and it’s not just something he does with members of the press. The only way to keep secrets is to limit the amount of information released through the levels, and perhaps there is no greater secret in the franchise at this time than the mystery surrounding how x men it will finally show up.

Clearly, Kevin Feige didn’t feel entirely necessary to clarify the subject of Kamala Khan’s future as a mutant during a conversation with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah as part of the development of the series. Mrs. Wonder final, though obviously that will change as the filmmakers become more involved in character development in the canon. The referee continued

[Kevin] he just said, ‘This is the script, turn it around. And then put the music on, ”and that’s it. Without answering the questions. Like, what if we were to be part of the future? So yeah, ok, we need to know a little more. But for the moment we don’t know anything … We tried, believe me, during the filming, we also tried on Spider-Man: No Way Home, on Dr. Strange 2: nothing.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were obviously impressed by Kamala Khan’s mutant identity, but according to the latter, the news literally broke the brain of star Iman Vellani. The young star prides herself on being a diehard Marvel nerd, just like her character (which is why she got stuck when she met Kevin Feige for the first time) and she uncovered some trivia about the hero’s DNA. rocked the world of her. Fallah explained,

I think his mind literally exploded. She was aware of this scene and talked all the time, also trying to get all the information. But yeah, Iman is … it’s amazing that he’s never acted in a movie, and this is the first time he’s done it. Watching her grow from the first episode to the last, she really went from someone who had never had any experience to a true professional artist by the end. It is fun to see.

Mrs. Wonder This is the first time Iman Vellani has starred in anything and has received rave reviews for her performance since the beginning of the series. Bilall Fallah explained that he and Adil El Arbi had a great time working with her and predicted that she will have an exciting future just like her Marvel character of hers:

As a director, you look and say “Action” and see how much she brings to the character and her personality. It is a lot of fun to work with her. I think she is perhaps the biggest fan on set, she knows everything about everything. Sometimes you even asked him questions. She’s just a super talented girl that I think she has a great future ahead of her, like Kamala Khan, you know, it’s the same thing.

Iman Vellani’s exciting future in the immediate sense includes the work of director Nia DaCosta The Marvels, with a stellar cast and has already completed production. The Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster will be the third to hit theaters in 2023, shortly thereafter Ant-Man and the Vespa: Quantumania Yes guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 July 28, 2023.
