Sertanejo comments on the accusation and defends business partnerships with betting as part of the marketing strategy
Singer Gusttavo Lima spoke this week about his recent indictment by the Pernambuco Civil Police on charges of money laundering and criminal conspiracy. In an interview with the legal portal Migalhas, Gusttavo stressed that his relationship with the Vai de Bet betting house was limited to an advertising contract, signed in 2022. “I don’t even know how to launder money,” the artist said, rejecting any direct involvement with the operating company’s finances.
According to the singer, the advertising contract was fulfilled according to the agreed conditions and he has no stake in the company. “For these two years I have been their testimonial. I am not the owner of Vai de Bet, this idea of wanting to be linked to all this is crazy”, said the compatriot.
Concerns about the social impact of betting
Gusttavo also commented on the risks associated with betting games and defended the need for tighter regulation. “I have always said that gambling is not an income, it is entertainment. The government must take protective measures against this; we are talking about financial education,” he said, underlining the importance of earmarking the taxes generated by the gambling sector bets on sectors such as healthcare and education.
Collaboration with Justice
Lima also said she was willing to collaborate in the investigation and criticized the repercussions of the case. “We sent all our material to the court in Pernambuco. Afterwards I was surprised by the request for arrest. When the police arrived at our office, we were in Greece,” the singer said.
Regarding the accusations, he states that he sees no justification for being associated with financial crimes and is available to provide any clarifications. “I am at the disposal of the authorities. You can see everything, I have nothing to hide. I don’t even know how to launder money, my life has always been about doing the right things”, concluded the artist.
