Hurricane Milton made landfall on the Florida coast on Wednesday with winds reaching 125 mph (205 km/h).
The singer Taylor Swift donated $5 million to help those affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton which hit the United States in recent days.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, announced the donation Wednesday in an Instagram post thanking the singer for “being with us in the movement to end hunger and help communities in need.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricane Helene and Milton relief efforts,” Babineaux-Fontenot wrote. “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover by providing essential food, clean water and supplies to those affected by these devastating storms.”
In less than two weeks, two major hurricanes have formed in the Gulf of Mexico, hitting the United States. First, the Hurricane Helene brought torrential and deadly rains hundreds of kilometers away from where it initially hit the ground. Now, the Hurricane Milton has hit Florida with winds of 205 km/h. /AP
