Singer Gusttavo Lima, on whom an arrest warrant was recently issued for his alleged involvement in the escape of businessmen investigated for money laundering, spoke about the regulation of betting shops in Brazil. The artist is the target of Operation Integration, the same one that arrested Deolane Bezerra and his mother, Solange Bezerra.
In an interview with the Migalhas portal, the compatriot commented on the accusations he faces and shared his vision on the online betting market in the country.
“So, we really want there to be regulation that can protect the means of payment, the home, even the bettors and, of course, allocate a good part of this tax to Brazil, to healthcare, to education, which I think is what matters most right now,” the singer said.
“I’ve always said in all the ads we’ve done, ‘Look, gambling is not income, gambling is entertainment.’ I really think the government needs to take protective measures against this, because we’re talking about to financial education I think financial education should have been implemented in the country, in Brazil, in education, many years ago, in my opinion,” the singer said.
Gusttavo underlined the need to consider online betting as a recreational activity and not as a safe investment. “Hey, you have some money, you will have some fun, but don’t take it to heart as a means of income, because it’s very complicated,” he warned.
