Singer Gabriel Elias released his new album this Thursday, entitled Tropicalwhere the artist celebrates a journey of self-discovery and takes the listener to immerse himself in his heavenly universe. The song is now available on digital platforms.
Gabriele Eliaartist from Minas Gerais, is one of the highlights of the current national music scene and in his new studio work Tropical returns to its roots.
The project’s nine tracks feature elements of reggae, pop AND ijexámixed with the essence of summer and the lightness of the beach lifestyle that the artist has adopted in recent times.
“Going back to making a reggae album, which I hadn’t done since Solar (2016), was something I’d wanted for a long time. Now that I’m 30, I’m just grateful for the path I’ve taken.” I’ve built and I feel like I can be a important person in this place. Reggae is a very big truth for me, regardless of the difficulties of the media or the acceptance of doing it in Brazil”, said the artist.
And he continues: “The concept of tropical seems to me to be something sensitive. I think of falling into the sea, drinking cold coconut water in the shade under a coconut tree on a summer day. Tropical for me is much more than the climate. It’s a state of mind, it is connection with nature, it is freedom to be and to be”explains.
The conception of the album came after a sailing trip to paradisiacal islands that lasted 12 days – without internet and accompanied by the sound of silence -, where the luxury was waking up in nature, being able to immerse yourself in crystal clear waters and rethink your style of life. It was during this period that Gabriele Elia he changed the agitated Saint Paul from the nature reserve of ItaguarĂ©belonging to BertiogaIn Baixada Santistaand began to devote himself to surfing (another of his passions).
Gabriel Elias explains work song ‘Paradisia’
No wonder it’s called the work song Paradise and reflects this moment in which simplicity guides the artist’s every movement.
“‘Paradisiac’ is a song that was born after this very spiritual journey, where I learned to sail and which, without a doubt, changed my life. There is a song that illustrates it well: ‘let the wind guide me the light of day’. The lyrics talk about getting out of the routine and letting the pleasure of the present take over. It is a song with a lot of Brazilian, which has reggae elements, but also has a lot of ijexá in the swing in the song door, there is a lot of nylon guitar. Without a doubt, it is a very important song within the project because it is from it that the concept of the Tropical album was born.” explains.
The nine tracks of Tropical were produced by Gabriele Elia AND Renato Gallozi and embellished with audiovisual format live session turned inside Ilhabelaon the north coast of SĂŁo Paulo, under the direction of Bruno Fioravanti.
The album cover reflects this choice for a life closer to nature and this moment of rediscovery: “Once again I worked with my favorite photographer, Victor Costa, who has been signing almost all my covers for a few years now. He captured this feeling of movement, of running towards the life we choose because we don’t have time to waste, you know?”explains Gabriele Elia.
